🚶Walking Guide

1. Llyn Cwmorthin Lake Walk

Distance: 6 km circular
Time: 2 hours
Difficulty: Moderate

Directions:

1. Start just from the cottage

2. Walk through the gate at the end of the road.

3. Follow the slate track uphill past Cwmorthin Waterfall.

4. Continue until you reach Llyn Cwmorthin lake.

5. Follow the path around the lake.

6. Return to the car park the same route.

The circular trail is around 6.3 km with about 277 m elevation gain and normally takes just over two hours.

3. Cnicht – The Welsh Matterhorn

Distance: 5 km loop
Time: 1–1.5 hours
Difficulty: Easy

Directions

1. Start just from the cottage

2. Walk along the lakeside path clockwise.

3. Cross the Ffestiniog Railway track.

4. Continue along the opposite side of the lake.

5. Follow the shoreline path back to the village.

2. Tanygrisiau Reservoir Walk

Distance: 6 km return
Time: 3–4 hours
Difficulty: Moderate

Directions

1. Drive to Croesor village (15 minutes).

2. Start from the small car park near the village.

3. Follow the track through the valley.

4. Climb along the ridge to Cnicht summit (689 m).

5. Return using the same path.

4. Cynfal Waterfall Walk

1. Park in Llan Ffestiniog village.

2. Follow signs for Rhaeadr Cynfal waterfall.

3. Walk through woodland paths.

4. Reach the viewing platform overlooking the gorge.
